Houston Rodeo and Train

Last night Brent and I started off our almost-month-long festivities by going eating some real Texan BBQ food (some DANG good ribs!) and going to the Houston Rodeo. It was so much fun and such a big event. The rodeo runs for three weeks and is really the best rodeo competition in the nation. They have a big fair event before the rodeo starts each day, horse shows, mutton busting, and a livestock show. I loved seeing the new baby animals in the livestock show - they had lambs and piglets that were only one and two days old and an incubator where you could watch chicks hatching. Then we went to the rodeo and they started it with a prayer, which I thought was really neat. I think my favorite part of the actual rodeo was the bull riding and the bareback broncos. Its crazy that the cowboys can stay on those animals the way they're bucking! And then the rodeo finished off with a concert by Train, which was kinda fun. The music was great, but I have to say that I was kind of disappointed in the lead singer - he wasn't that great of a performer and was a little awkward sometimes. But hey! I'd probably be pretty awkward, too, if I tried to do what he does. Anyway, it was really fun over all and I love that everyone here gets into the rodeo and that its a big event. Here a few pictures from our night!

Right before the rodeo started - the only picture I got cause we were a little too far away for good pics

They did fireworks (all inside) during the national anthem and also during the concert
